The September Neowsletter offers no date, but the developers say a lot of content is already in internal testing.

Slay the Spire 2 has been in Early Access since March 5, and Mega Crit is back at work after a team break. The studio’s September 2026 Neowsletter, published September 25, is a status update rather than a patch, but it does say what is coming.

The next patch. There is no date. The team wrote: “While we still can’t give a specific timeline or details for the next patch, rest assured that the things we’ve got cooking are BIG.” Much of it is described as already being actively tested internally, and the studio says it is working on “tons of secret features, game modes, content, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements.”

What the studio has hinted at. Per PCGamesN’s summary, before the break Mega Crit said it was building experimental modes, an alternate region for Act Two and the next character to join the roster. To be clear, the newsletter itself does not confirm those items in detail, and we could not verify the character or modes from it directly. Treat them as previously teased work in progress, not a promise.

The teaser. The newsletter’s “Spire Spotting” segment hints at a new area of the Spire “still shrouded in darkness,” home to a creature described as “some sort of small, floating excitable being” that appears “almost… cute.” Mega Crit is inviting fan guesses by email or Discord, with a deadline of October 8, and says the full reveal comes in the next monthly newsletter, according to PCGamesN. The newsletter suggests the creature is a monster, not a playable character.

The cadence. Mega Crit’s newsletter has landed roughly monthly, with issues on May 22, June 19, July 17, August 14 and September 25. That makes an October issue the next likely place to hear more, though the studio has not promised a date.

Where that leaves players. The game remains in Early Access, and the studio has not announced a 1.0 date in what we reviewed. If you have been waiting for fresh content, the honest answer is soon-ish, not this week.

Bottom line. No patch yet, but the developer’s tone is confident and the next reveal is close.
