Elden Ring Nightreign Where Things Stand: Forsaken Hollows Out, Patches Quiet, Tarnished Edition Is a Different Game
FromSoftware's co-op spin-off has its DLC and a run of balance patches behind it. Here's what is confirmed as of late September 2026, and what is not.
With Elden Ring’s Tarnished Edition making headlines on Switch 2, it is easy to blur Nightreign into the wider franchise news. Here is a clear look at where the co-op spin-off actually stands.
The game and its DLC. Elden Ring Nightreign launched May 30, 2025 as a standalone adventure across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS4 and Xbox One, per Bandai Namco’s official news page. Its expansion, The Forsaken Hollows, launched December 4, 2025. Per the game’s Wikipedia entry, it added expedition and night bosses, new locations, a shifting earth map, and two new Nightfarers, the Undertaker and the Scholar.
Patches. Bandai Namco Europe’s official news page lists Hotfix 1.03.1 on December 24, 2025, Patch 1.03.2 on January 15, 2026 (balance changes across multiple classes, relic effect changes and bug fixes), and Hotfix 1.03.5 on March 31, 2026. The Fextralife patch-notes wiki describes the March hotfix as fixing a bug in which repeatedly using specific actions during a multiplayer Expedition would degrade performance for all players. Those are the most recent entries in the material we retrieved. We did not find a newer official patch, but because we could not load Steam’s news feed for the game, we cannot rule one out.
Tarnished Edition is not Nightreign. The Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, which Bandai Namco’s official page lists for August 28, 2026 exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2, bundles the original 2022 Elden Ring, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, and new armor and customization features for Torrent’s appearance. It is a base-game package. Bandai Namco’s page treats Nightreign as a separate title, and nothing we found says Nightreign is coming to Switch 2 or receiving new content tied to that release.
What is not confirmed. Wikipedia, updated September 24, notes no announcements of a Switch 2 port or confirmed future Nightreign updates. Some sites have speculated about a final update or two before FromSoftware moves on. That is unconfirmed talk, and we are not treating it as news.
Reception snapshot. Per Wikipedia, Metacritic averages sit at 79 for PC, 77 for PS5 and 84 for Xbox Series X|S, with the game earning nominations at The Steam Awards 2025, the Golden Joystick Awards, The Game Awards 2025 and the BAFTA Games Awards.
Bottom line. Nightreign is a finished game with its DLC shipped and no confirmed roadmap. If new content is coming, FromSoftware has not said so.
