PS5 Prices in 2026: Every Model After Sony's April Increase
Sony raised the PS5, PS5 Digital Edition, PS5 Pro and PlayStation Portal in March. Here are the official US, UK, EU and Japan prices.
Shopping for a PlayStation 5 this fall? Here is the official pricing from the most recent Sony price announcement we could verify: the March 27, 2026 PlayStation Blog post, with new prices effective April 2.
US prices.
- PS5 (disc): $649.99
- PS5 Digital Edition: $599.99
- PS5 Pro: $899.99
- PlayStation Portal: $249.99
Tom’s Hardware’s coverage described the change as $100 increases for the PS5 and Digital Edition, and $150 for the PS5 Pro. Sony’s August 2025 US price move had set the disc model at $549.99, so the numbers line up.
UK prices. PS5 £569.99, Digital Edition £519.99, PS5 Pro £789.99, Portal £219.99.
Europe. PS5 €649.99, Digital Edition €599.99, PS5 Pro €899.99, Portal €249.99.
Japan. PS5 ¥97,980, Digital Edition ¥89,980, PS5 Pro ¥137,980, Portal ¥39,980.
Sony’s explanation. In the blog post, VP Isabelle Tomatis said: “With continued pressures in the global economic landscape, we’ve made the decision to increase the prices.” The post frames the step as necessary to keep delivering high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide. Sony did not, in the post we retrieved, name memory costs specifically.
A note on rumors. You may see articles online claiming Sony cut PS5 prices again in August. We could not find any such announcement from Sony or from major outlets, and the PlayStation Blog’s seven most recent posts as of September 25 include nothing about price changes. Until Sony says otherwise, the April prices above are the official ones. Retailers do run their own promotions, which is a different matter from an official MSRP change.
Context. Sony was not alone. Valve raised Steam Deck OLED prices in May, Nintendo’s Switch 2 increase took effect September 1, and Microsoft’s Xbox increases took effect August 1. If you’re weighing consoles, that’s the market backdrop: every major platform holder has moved prices upward in 2026.
Bottom line. The PS5 disc console is $649.99 in the US, the Digital Edition is $599.99, and the PS5 Pro is $899.99. Check the PlayStation Blog for any future change.
