Sony rolled out PS5 system software 26.06-14.00.00 on September 17, 2026, and the headline change is one that PS5 Pro owners don’t have to do anything to get.

PSSR upscaling, now on by default. The Enhance PSSR Image Quality feature — Sony’s upscaling tech for PS5 Pro — is now automatically turned on for Pro systems rather than requiring players to dig into settings. For anyone who bought a Pro and never found the toggle, this update turns it on for them.

Who’s talking. A new Display Who’s Speaking option lets players see an on-screen indicator of who is currently talking in a party. It’s accessed from the control center’s voice chat card via More > Display Who’s Speaking > Display Names — useful for large parties or anyone who mutes notification sounds.

A new widget on the Welcome Hub. Sony added a Community Activity widget to the Welcome Hub interface, surfacing activity from friends and communities directly on the home screen rather than requiring a trip into the dedicated tab.

Built for esports venues. A Turn Off Bluetooth feature has been added under Settings > Accessories > General > Advanced Settings. Sony’s own framing is specific: it’s intended for managing controller connections at esports venues, where multiple PS5s and wireless controllers in close proximity can interfere with each other.

Why it matters. None of these are flashy additions, but the default-on PSSR change is the one with the broadest reach — it quietly improves image quality for every PS5 Pro owner who hadn’t already found the manual setting. The update also carries Sony’s standard note of general stability and performance improvements.
