Hideo Kojima used Tokyo Game Show 2026 to reveal the face of his next game. Swedish actor Bill Skarsgård will play the lead in Physint, the action-espionage title from Kojima Productions, published by Xbox.

The announcement. In a statement published on Xbox Wire on September 17, Kojima said: “I’m delighted to confirm the lead role for PHYSINT will be Bill Skarsgård. We are both long-time fans of each other’s work, and we’ve decided to embark on this new adventure together.”

The rest of the cast. Charlee Fraser is also cast, alongside an ensemble that includes Don Lee and Minami Hamabe. Xbox Wire says further casting announcements are promised. Kojima personally shot a new poster photo featuring Skarsgård and Fraser.

Development detail. Kojima said he conducted “costume fittings, scans, and camera tests” with the leads, and that this work “gave me tremendous confidence in the direction of the project.”

Who is Skarsgård? The actor is best known for playing Pennywise in It (2017) and It: Chapter Two (2019), and Xbox Wire also cites Nosferatu (2024), The Crow (2024) and Dead Man’s Wire (2026) among his recent credits.

What’s still missing. The Xbox Wire post did not disclose platforms or a release date, and we have not found an official date elsewhere. Anyone quoting a launch window for Physint at this point is guessing.

The show around it. Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show broadcast, per its own recap, featured “17 fresh gameplay reveals, announcements, a surprise release, and a world premiere.” Kojima’s other project, OD, also received an update at the show, with Kojima saying development was progressing smoothly, according to a roundup we reviewed.

Why it matters. Physint is published by Xbox, and a name-brand lead is a clear sign of the profile the project is aiming for. For fans of his stealth and espionage work, a cast list is welcome progress, but the biggest questions, when it ships and what it plays like, remain open.
