Monster Hunter Wilds Heads to Switch 2 on December 4, With Ascendance Due in 2027

Monster Hunter Wilds has a new platform and a new date. In a press release dated September 10, 2026, Capcom announced that the game will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2026.

What the release says. Capcom’s announcement covers four titles headed to Switch 2. Alongside Wilds, Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition are set for October 16, 2026 digitally, with physical versions following on January 29, 2027. The company frames the moves as strategy: “Capcom remains firmly committed to expanding its user base by releasing major titles across multiple platforms, while maximizing unit sales and enhancing its brand value over medium to long term.” The release also states that the Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion is scheduled for 2027 on Switch 2. It does not specify a price, and we are not repeating price figures we could not confirm from official sources.

The base game’s status. Wilds launched February 28, 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Coverage of Capcom’s February 2026 presentation described Title Update 4 (version 1.041, February 18) as the final major update before the expansion, adding weekly rotating seasonal events and a Monster Hunter Stories 3 collaboration with a Royal Palico Rudy costume. Capcom producer Ryozo Tsujimoto said at the time: “We are currently at work on a large-scale expansion similar to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak for Monster Hunter Wilds.”

Ascendance. Capcom revealed Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance at Summer Game Festival 2026 on June 6, with a 2027 release window, per Impulse Gamer’s report. Secondary coverage says it brings back Elder Dragons including Lao-Shan Lung and Teostra, but we could not confirm those details against a primary source, so consider them reported rather than official. A release date for the expansion has not been announced in anything we retrieved.

Bottom line. For Switch 2 owners, the date is now set. For everyone else, the roadmap is clear: the base game is largely complete, and the next major content arrives with Ascendance in 2027. Capcom has not yet said when in 2027.
