How Big Is Leonida, Really? Comparing GTA 6's Map to Los Santos
Community estimates put GTA 6's map at more than double GTA 5's size — but Rockstar has never confirmed a number.
Ask how big GTA 6’s map is and you’ll get a range, not an answer — because Rockstar has never published one. What exists instead are community mapping and estimate projects that have pieced together figures from trailer footage and the six named regions Rockstar has confirmed: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park.
Those community estimates put Leonida at roughly 118 to 132 square miles. For comparison, GTA 5’s Los Santos and Blaine County clock in at around 49 square miles. That works out to Leonida being somewhere between 2.4x and 2.7x larger than GTA 5’s map — and some outlets have simplified that further, describing it as “roughly twice the size” of Los Santos.
Worth the hedge
It’s important to be precise about what this is and isn’t. These numbers come from community/press analysis — outlets and mapping communities working from trailer geography, not from any Rockstar-published figure. Rockstar has not confirmed a square-mileage number for Leonida at any point.
The same caveat applies to another widely circulated number: leaks suggesting the game will feature 157 or more enterable interiors. That figure is explicitly unconfirmed by Rockstar and should be treated as a leak, not a spec sheet.
Taken together, the picture is consistent even without official numbers: six named regions, a noticeably larger footprint than Los Santos by every community estimate, and a game world built to be explored at a scale GTA hasn’t attempted before. Just don’t quote the specific figures as Rockstar’s own.
