How GTA Online's Weekly Updates Actually Work

New to GTA Online? Here's a plain breakdown of the weekly update cycle, from bonus multipliers to rotating vehicle drops and giveaways.

September 12, 2026

Every week, without fail, GTA Online refreshes. Rockstar rotates in new bonuses, discounts, and often new content on a set weekly schedule, and understanding that rhythm makes a real difference in how efficiently players earn and spend in-game currency.

The core of each weekly update is a set of reward multipliers — typically 2X or 3X GTA$ and RP — applied to specific activities. These change every week and usually target a mix of business operations (like bunker research or contract deliveries), mission playlists, and Featured Series content. Checking what’s boosted before diving in is one of the simplest ways to make play time more efficient, since running a boosted activity can net double or triple the usual payout for the same effort.

Beyond multipliers, weekly updates frequently introduce new vehicles. Sometimes these launch with a temporary exclusivity window — for example, reserved for GTA+ subscribers for the first week — before becoming available to everyone through in-game dealerships like Legendary Motorsport. Updates can also include free giveaways, whether that’s a vehicle, a property, or bonus items tied to completing certain challenges.

Longer-term events, meanwhile, can span multiple weeks rather than resetting every seven days — building narrative or reward structures that carry across several update cycles.

The practical takeaway for newer players: it pays to check in weekly. Bonuses are time-limited, free items don’t stay free forever, and vehicle exclusivity windows close. Missing a week doesn’t lock anyone out of the game, but it does mean missing whatever that specific week offered.
