Final Fantasy VII Revelation Gets an April 2027 Date at State of Play
Square Enix used the closing slot of Sony's September showcase to date the final chapter of the Remake trilogy.
Sony’s September 3 State of Play saved its biggest swing for last. Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the concluding chapter of the Remake trilogy, now has a release date: April 8, 2027.
According to Game Informer’s rundown of the show, the game is listed for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2 and PC. Square Enix used the slot to walk through a batch of gameplay systems, including exploration by the Highwind airship, Chocobo combat, a class system called FITS, photographing cats in the Wutai capital, fast-forward options for cutscenes, and side missions built around perspective.
Those are the details Square Enix put on screen. Nothing about pricing was part of Game Informer’s summary, so we won’t guess at it here.
What else showed up. The State of Play was a packed one. Among the dated items in Game Informer’s list:
- Metro 2039: February 4, 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, with a new gameplay trailer captured on PS5 Pro.
- Until Dawn 2: January 28, 2027 on PS5, with a focus on choice and consequence and a ghost-hunting TV crew.
- Crimson Desert, Charting The Unknown DLC: October 15, 2026, a story expansion adding underwater diving and naval mechanics.
- Final Fantasy Resonance: October 22, 2026, with Sephiroth revealed as a boss and a demo available right away.
- Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition: October 1, 2026, including a new roguelike mode called “Most Wanted” where Jin Sakai is playable.
- Maneater 2: a newly revealed sequel to the shark RPG, targeting 2027.
- Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance: an expansion listed for 2027 with new monsters.
Why it matters. Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth were among the defining PlayStation-era releases of recent years, and the wait for the third installment has been long. Putting a firm spring 2027 date on it gives Square Enix a clean landing spot well away from the holiday crush, and the multiplatform list, which now includes Switch 2 and Xbox, is a notable widening from where the series started on PlayStation.
Sony also used the show for hardware and merchandise news, including a Lego set modeled on the original PlayStation that Game Informer lists at $179.99, arriving October 4.
We’ll update as Square Enix publishes preorder and edition details. For now the calendar is simple: mark April 8, 2027.
